My experience with Morton Buildings has been almost entirely pleasant until one of their sales consultants, Mr. Sidell, started coming around about 2-3 years ago. He was rude right off the bat. He has up-sold his customers on the sizes of their buildings (he must make commission) and has caused issues for these customers. He has also been dishonest and mistreats women.
As soon as a man stands up to him, he tucks his tail between his legs. It's a disgrace to the company. He tells people they're liars, incompetent, and raises his voice. If you work with this company (who does good work, ) I urge you to avoid this man and also urge you to do your own research on the building process and restrictions. Morton, you need to get rid of this embarrassment working for your company.

They wanted to pay me to be a temp. for 6 months. Half a year! With only a couple dollars above minimum wage. To work next to guys that make triple if not more. Yet with my old Eastwing hammer I couldn't keep up the first week, they were using aluminum light weight 500 dollar hammers. I was told "you're not going to like me" by my lead the 3rd day there after trying to get to know him and stating my father had just been diagnosed with cancer.
He was right. I did not like him. He also kept detaching my lanyard which with the size of that building could have cost me my life. NOT SAFE. They had the most toxic atmosphere. The two other guys on my crew were literally on their last two weeks because they couldn't switch crews and they were tired of the horrible boss we had. Just a terrible experience all around. Never buy or work for this selfish company.

After taking bids, and examining prints of what companies had to offer, in the way of steel buildings, we decided to go with Morton Buildings, primarily because we appreciated the system of foundation work that they employed. Our experience, from beginning to end, was completely rewarding, and beyond satisfactory. Blake, our initial contact, was friendly, answered questions openly, and was never out of the loop, even though at one point, he was sequestered with Covid.
He always returned our calls promptly, and gave us concise, and open answers. The build crew was professional, and had our building up in twelve working days, with a bit of time off for Christmas, and New Years (yes, they worked in the snow and cold). Any reservations that we might have had about winter building, were put to work. Workers, also, were open to discussion, and kept us up on what was going on, along with the "why's and when's." When the building was up, and done, crews left the area neat and cleared of debris, except for the woodpile that we asked them to leave, for kindling in future campfires. Overall, we would use Morton Buildings again in a heartbeat.
Not the best price, but we factored that in when considering the quality of what we were attempting to build. Very, very satisfied with the results, and highly recommend this completely professional company.

I actually worked for this company and their mission statement is a joke. They treat the people who actually work for the company right but if you're a temp then I 9/10 you're not going to make company. I made it to work as best as I could. My coworkers were steady talking behind my back for no apparent reason. Maybe because I didn't socialize with them, but that's not why I come in to work.
I don't need new friends. The place is toxic if you ask me. The machinery is always breaking down and they blame you when the machine does breakdown. The reviews on here are through the company. But like I said, if you're a temp then please do not apply for this job.

Let me begin by saying that I am not the client, my husband is. The Covid-19 pandemic/quarantine has him locked down in another country. This alone has generated its own amount of distress and add to that the beginning of a new build, but I was wrong. Andrew P, Eric, Shane, Stephen and Kyle represented Morton Buildings, Inc. in a way that set the standard for all the other contractors I come in contact and/or do business with.
I tried to show my appreciation every day by preparing lunch for them! From the beginning to the 'almost' end (we're receiving a large amount of rain in our state and the concrete (final part) has to wait), the site has been set up in the most organized way. There were no tools laying around.ladders 'there' when they should have been 'there'.nails.scraps of metal, etc., could not to be found. (Every day I would video walk for my husband.) One thing that stands out and occurred when the trash container was delivered and it speaks to the professionalism of "the group": the trash company completely destroyed my mail box.and left without acknowledging it!
And when I called Andrew P. he acknowledged, immediately reassured me, and in one day I had a new mailbox, 2/4 and all! One day. And here's the thing.again, I am not the client! This truly was a sweat-free experience. And this does not mean that the end will be this way.or that and/or be void of challenges, but the process up until this point leaves me pleased.

Be careful with the paint warranty. I made a peeling paint claim in February of 2019 (my building was turning 20 years old in April of 2019). The office that had built my building had closed down so there was confusion and delay in getting me hooked up with the proper people (they actually have a complete department for paint warranty claims). You guessed it I received a letter in the mail in August claiming my paint peeling claim was processed outside of the 20 year warranty.therefore they couldn't help me.
After contacting them to express my frustration they said if I could summons my phone records from the original call they would look into it further. Really? Are you kidding me? I called on a work phone.it would be nearly impossible to get those records. I'd advise anyone with a Morton building to get up on the roof every spring and look for peeling paint.
If I can get at least a few customers proper customer service I will be happy. Tell your friends and neighbors if they have a Morton building keep a close eye on the paint and get your warranty claim in and log all your calls to the factory. Don't even mess with your local Morton facility.go right to the factory and get the claim number immediately. The current paint warranty is 30 years.mine was built in 1999 when evidently they only had a 20 year warranty.

4-6-19 It is hard for me to write a review of Morton Builders in Ixonia (WI) because I never even received a phone call. Back in January 2019 I set up an appointment to sit down and discuss my plans. The Waukesha (WI) rep was not available, but his superior was. So I sat down with him for over an hour and looked at my plans. I had computer generated pictures of all sides of the building along with a detailed floor plan.
This is the same software I used to build our house. We had a discussion on the options and I was given several brochures on their buildings. About six weeks go by and no phone calls at all. I also found out that the Waukesha rep drives right by my house often! So I called and left a voice message and still nothing. Another week goes by and I stop in the Ixonia location again, and of course the Waukesha rep was not available and his supervisor was on the phone.
The receptionist was very nice and had all the records of my first visit, phone message and of course my 2nd visit. She went in the back no less than 3 times to see if he was off the phone and came back out with the same statement "that it would be just another minute." I looked at the clock on their wall and gave the guy 15 minutes. (The truth is I have been waiting since January) He never even came out so I asked the receptionist to have one of these guys call me, and then I left.
Now it is 4-6-19 and still no contact. I do believe Morton Builders could not figure how to build my building so no contact. I was hoping to have permits by now! VERY UNHAPPY! Jeff from Waukesha WI.

I chose Morton given a reputation for quality. Unfortunately, the customer service is not. I would look elsewhere - there are other good options. If you do choose them, don't believe anything the salesman says and make sure everything is clearly down in writing. This was my mistake. On my initial planning meeting, the salesman tried to talk me out of a service door.
This is for a detached shop so I will be using this door all the time. He said fine, he has a door they never used in his office. They would just put that one in. (Not in writing though.) Fortunately, I noticed they had no opening for the door when they started building. The shop is not by my house so I easily could have missed this. They would not have put it in.
I caught it in time but they went ahead and added an $800 "change order". Fine. Not a big deal in the grand scheme. I had planned in floor heat from the start. All the salesman put down in the plans was "2" foam to fasten the pex tube". He said not to worry about the tubing, the cost would be $3-400. A few days before the concrete was scheduled, I get a frantic call saying "we didn't know about in floor heat".
They scrambled to get someone who would come on a Saturday to do it but the quote was $3000 just to lay the tubing. I told the salesman that in floor heat was the plan the entire time but he didn't seem to recall and was annoyed that I questioned him. I wonder what he thought the pex in the concrete was for? About 4-6 weeks after everything was done (except the garage doors - we will get to that) I get a call asking if everything was working out fine and can we close the project?
I asked them if they had insulated the ceiling as planned? They checked the plans. Yeah, forgot about that too. Garage doors. On the first planning meeting, I told the salesman I was probably going to go with stamped steel doors. He said he thought he knew just what I was looking for. They were putting in some doors just like that and he would send me a picture later that day.
This is in May. No picture. All summer, I asked him about a dozen times to finalize my doors (I was told door orders usually took 3 weeks). Phone calls, texts, emails. Every time I would either get no reply or he "would send a picture later today". He never would. 4 months pass. Finally I reached the conclusion he was not going to get it done for them to be on hand after concrete.
His incompetence had been made increasingly clear as the project went on. It's now September and I really wanted it sealed up before winter. I started looking for quotes myself. I found some and ordered them early Oct. The Morton salesman called me 2 weeks after concrete was poured and said he just needed a color and could order my doors. Keep in mind, I didn't pick a door from him (there are dozens of style choices not just colors) and it's now 2 weeks after concrete and he hasn't even ordered.
It took my doors 4 months to arrive. I used the same brand Morton was planning to order so would have been in the same situation. I didn't get doors until February and spent the winter shoveling drifted snow out of the building. I've since discussed all this with the Morton people. They don't seem to think any of this is their problem. In conclusion, this seemed like their first project.
No one seemed to know the building plans. The salesman liked to tell me things verbally, not write them down, then forget it happened. The building itself seems like good quality and the guys on the job site communicated well. Given the mistakes above and their lack of interest in recognizing them, I doubt the warranty is worth much. I would definitely look elsewhere if you are in the market for a building.

Before you contract to build a Morton building, be aware that in the fine print they only warranty their roofs for 5 short years! I had them put up a very small, but very expensive hay shed for $30,000 in 2007, and the roof has already failed (I have put up similar sheds and the roofs have been good for 25 years plus.) The most Morton will do is for $900 come and put some caulking on it.
The shed has a significant leak on both the East and West exposures. It sits in the wide open and has never been touched by a tree branch or other foreign body. I will never build another Morton building again.
