The Canaan Ridge at Wolf Creek team provided the ultimate home buying experience. 5 star customer service is an understatement. The quality of work is unmatched compared to anything else in the area. Stephen and Faith were very attentive to our needs and concerns, even meeting us several times at the job site for consultations. I would like to thank Faith and Stephen for making my family's dream come to fruition. Benchmark truly defines a higher standard.

I wouldn't even give it a star. We have spent thousands fixing mistakes and poor craftmanship by Benchmark homes. I feel like we were ripped off terribly. I would not complain against a business unless it was really bad. Since a home is most likely your largest investment, it's important to know the quality of your contractor. Honestly I would not take anyone's money ever for doing such terrible work.
I feel when you are paying someone to do a job for you that it should be done with integrity and honesty, but that is not the case here. Here is a list of most of the problems we have had. 1. Major flooding and erosion in our backyard causing a soggy muddy mess. The county says it's a developer issue. 2. The wood deck was rotting and falling apart. Nails were used instead of deck screws. Popping out all over. 3. HVAC needed replaced after just a few years because Benchmark (accordingl to AC company) told the professional HVAC installers to do it the way Benchmark wanted and not the way it should be. 2/26 Benchmark denied and blames Carrier. 4. Duct work was improper, so it had to be re-run. 5.
Water running in gaps through basement garage door-which is unlevel. 6. Major plumbing leak the day we moved in that got drywall wet. It was so clogged from the basement that they had to re-route it across the ceiling to a secondary plumbing drain. 7. Drains under sinks and in basement leaked due to improper sealing. 8. Tile in bathrooms cracking.
At least one floor was uneven causing cracked tile. 9. At just under 10 yrs we are having to tear out what would be a nice master bathroom shower because improper grout is causing cracking and molding everywhere. I guess that one star will be okay since they did put cement board behind shower walls. Oh, and the shower fixture is leaking compounding the problem.
Which I would assume is another installation issue, but we don't know that yet. Some of the tile was not even grouted, yet just being held in by thin set. We were unaware until an expert pointed it out. 10. Poor quality wood floors with chunks of wood coming out. 11. Cheap light switches have blown and need replaced. 12. Counter flashing wasn't placed on roofs and there were inches of gaps which rats entered our home, so we had to spend a couple of thousand to fix that. 13. Mailboxes in the entire community were cheap and falling off posts. 14. Improper sealing or gutter in the back caused siding to rot and had to be replaced. 15. Visibly crooked walls in the house 16.
One of the gas fireplaces doesn't even work and god only knows why because part of the basement where the gas line is was dry walled before moving in. 17. Windows are terrible. They are supposed to be spring windows, but if you lift the bottom on many the top falls down and they have major drafts. 18. I was just told the gutters on this size of house should be 6 inch instead of 4 inch due to the size of the roof. 19. Carpet is buckling in in Master bedroom.
We had to have it re-stretched in another bedroom after moving in due to buckling. 20. One gas fireplace doesn't even work. No gas to fireplace. As you can tell, the list goes on and on, so I'm sure there are more issues. I'm surprised they are on Angies List and the BBB without complaints. Everyone I know in this neighborhood has had issues, especially with the HVAC. Update 2/25: The county is having to replace the large drain on the side of the house due to erosion.
I had them look at the water problem runoff from a major roadway where an underground large drain pipe should have been placed. The county would only say it's a developer issue. Update: On 2/26 I received a call from out builder regarding this complaint. He has asked me to remove remarks about dishonesty and lack of integrity. I will consider deceptive in place of dishonesty.
I can not remove the integrity part. This was an expensive home. It looked beautiful and felt solid, but many corners were cut and I can not just remove lack of integrity. I'm sorry it had to come to this with the builder.

My experience with Benchmark Homes Inc. has been of of great satisfaction. I recently moved from Ohio to Douglasville, Ga. and the home builder did a fantastic job of helping with the transition. I had to depend on the builder for his expertise in helping with selections of Interior items such as painting, trim, carpets, bathroom fixtures, kitchen cabinets etc.
My wife had nothing but good things to say about the construction of the house which a two story 5 bedroom with a basement and 5 full bathrooms on a well landscaped lot. We liked the craftmanship of our house so much that we have now recommended to our daughters to have a home built by Benchmark Homes. I have currently given Benchmark Homes another recommendation to a friend that was looking for a good home builder in Fairburn, Ga. and he is contracting with them as well. All I can say are good things and good experience with a stressful situation of building a house turned into and enjoyable experience. Thanks, Benchmark.
