Since our founding over 50 years ago in Columbus, Nebraska, we've learned a thing or two about building. In that time, we've built agricultural buildings, industrial facilities, churches, schools, medical centers, restaurants, and much more. Though the buildings have been different and times have changed since our founding, a few things never change.
The construction of this project involved integrating a pre-engineered metal building with a conventional steel structure. The project encompassed a 7.5 acre site located on the East end of Columbus and included a turning lane off the highway and a frontage road for ease of access. The new location allowed the owners to expand their showroom and outside sales areas, combing everything in a single location. The new building also featured a quick lane drive up and service center to better accommodate customers.
B-D Construction, Inc. provided complete project design and engineering services as well as general contracting on this project. We added just under 40,000 SF to the facility, bringing the entire plant close to 100,000 SF in total. We added 20 overhead cranes to the new and existing buildings. Detailed engineering and construction was required to allow the existing cranes to run back and forth between the new and old building. All the runways between the new and existing buildings were tied together to create one plant.
Construction on this project included a 135 male and female county jail on an eight acre site in an industrial park in Columbus, Nebraska. This full service jail includes a state-of-the-art video arraignment hearing room to allow for neighboring counties to have judicial access to inmates held in the facility.

This review is for SERC LLC, which operates out of the same office and is the rental arm of B-D construction. We spent days cleaning our rental before we left, even shampooing and powdering the carpets and wiping down all the walls. We left it cleaner than it was when it was given to us. On our last day, we sent photos to the landlord and politely asked him to give us a call if any damages were found that would lead them to not give us our full deposit back.
Fast forward several weeks, and we are sent a check to our new home with $100 deducted, no explanation. When we called to ask why, management became very rude with us, and said that it was for "damages" that they wouldn't specify. We asked for the pet deposit back, which we had paid in good faith, even though we weren't legally required to because our dog was registered as an ESA.
She was a puppy, and we wanted to make sure that if she did cause any damage we weren't aware of, that we took care of it. They told us we would not be getting that money back, even though we had paperwork, and our landlord texted us to "not text him again." He even went so far as to ask us if we were done, so he could delete our texts and numbers off his phone.
We lived in this rental for two years. During that time, we kept the place very clean, and we felt we were very good tenants. We had what I felt was a great relationship with management, UNTIL we told them we were leaving. Then, they became very rude, and I feel the way they treated us was not only very unprofessional, but bordered on harassment. I would not recommend this rental company for this reason.
