John was born in Utica, NY, but grew up in California and Michigan. He returned to Utica to attend college and upon graduating in 1979, went to work for a wood products manufacturing company. John, with his partner and cousin, Paul Rich, started building traditionally styled colonial spec homes in the Utica area.

John Rich built our home. Beautiful post and beam many years ago. It was gorgeous that stood the test of time. Located on a high traffic road and everyone that passes it is in awe. Would have loved to have still been there but had to move for a new school system for the kids. Very professional, everything is top quality. If I were to build another home Rich Home Building would be my first and only selection. Thanks again for taking such great care of us.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Rich Home Building's team was such a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Building a home from the ground up can be a challenge from timelines to finishes, etc, and they truly made the experience seamless and enjoyable.
