I was hired as a subcontractor by Calamar in 2020 for interior painting on a project in Mashpee Massachusetts. We would bill on a monthly basis. In May of 2021 Calamar stop paying us monies owed even though we continued to work on the project until September 2021. Numerous emails, phone calls, a letter from my attorney requesting monies owed. Its now 2022 and still have not been paid.
We are among many that are owed money on this project and after googling their name there are at least four other contractors that are suing them so I do not recommend this company for any projects as they will not pay their subcontractors.

My contract with calamar stated I was to get paid for the work done in the prior month. I worked June to Nov / 6 months. They were 60-150 days late for every payment. Finished my work in November of 2020. Didnt get Novembers pay until February 2021. Still to this day haven't received the 10% retainage. Project manager John Farkas had all sorts of delay tatics, he thinks he's slick.
Someone needs to tell him I have documented proof for every single day I was on site. Proof that I did my job right. Proof that many others didn't. Proof of illegal workers. Proof of blackmail. Thank you John for the snake scent I came across within days of starting. If it weren't for you being so obvious, I might not have this landslide of proof coming to a court near you. Calamar owes me my retention pay. Y'all should double it if you knew whats good for you.

I worked for this company for a short time. I flew out to NY for training and the company wined and dined me. No cost was too much. I was excited to be in a "giving" company. (they do some great charities in their defense). But when it came time to pay the subcontractors and vendors who provided services for the jobs they were HIRED to do, the corporate office would promise to send money to pay the subs (in KS), but rarely if ever paid them.
When I saw a continual pattern of broken promises, I chose to leave the company. I have kept quiet about them, until now. Today, nine months after leaving, I receive yet another phone call from a subcontractor who is desperately trying to get paid for projects they have worked on. The next phone call I receive from a vendor or sub looking for payment, I will send your company a bill for my time!
Not that I would expect to get paid, but its the principle. Why the good employees of this company continue to stay on and work for them, I have not idea, bless them. Pay your subs, pay your employees a decent wage and don't make a promise you cannot keep. P.S. Whomever in your company is checking out my LinkedIn Page weekly - stop!

We completed work for Calamar 6 months ago. We are still waiting to get paid. Owner of project Paid Calamar in full months ago. Trying to connect with Calamar for answers is imposable! Attention all Contractors - Stay away from Calamar - Bad News! Your response to my review is such B.S.! I have called your office multiple times a week for the last 3 months with no reply. The only option I have is to leave this review on Google. No my style, but I might as well let potential contractors and customers who they are getting involved with.

Calamar construction build s shoddy senior living complexes and then refuses to do repairs. At one of their facilities, I know of 4 different residents that have leaks in their ceilings, no heat, no hot water, and it goes on and on. They build a facilities and say they will include heat and hot water, which then don't work. The management does lipservice as does the corporate office and has no interest in fixing any of the problems but just continuing to get their rent.
They were smart enough to know that if you build facilities for people who can't stand up for themselves (seniors), then they could just exploit them With little fear of reprisal. And their foundation is just an absolute scam And should be investigated by the IRS.
