We were founded in 1921 as Chicago Concrete Breaking Company. Soon after, we made our name with an extremely challenging high-profile project removing a large section of retaining wall along a functioning stretch of railroad, on the east side of Michigan Ave. Despite a driving snowstorm and those who said it could not be done, our passion, ingenuity and expertise proved we were here to stay.
Financial stability, a vast network of resources and a strong commitment to safety are must-haves for all large-scale contractors - no question. But at Graycor, we work hard to do even better. Since 1921, we've delivered all of the above, plus the hands-on, collaborative spirit that comes with being one of the most experienced family-owned companies in North America.
Building is always about increasing potential. It's planning, constructing, managing and partnering in ways that are truly most valuable to you. For us, whether we're handling a design/build project or working as part of a joint effort, we see success as your complete satisfaction. From our own geographic growth to expanding the list of construction methods we offer, every measure we've taken has been to better serve our clients. Construction begins at conception. So it stands to reason that this is the most critical time for true partnership to pay off.
At Graycor, safety is not just a policy but a key part of our culture. As a family-owned and -operated company, it strikes to our core - each one of us is essential. Our health, our safety and the quality of our worksites is priority one. We believe errors are avoidable because our teams have accomplished major self-performance projects without a single injury.
