Chip's Cabinets has been building custom cabinets in North Texas since 1976. All of our cabinets are solid wood or plywood, including all interior shelves. Chip Hornbeek, owner, is a native of Arlington and works with only the highest sub-contractors. We use design software that enables you to view the whole room before we start building the cabinets.

We recently had Chips remodel our kitchen including removing a wall, adding 2 beams, and relocating plumbing. They finished ahead of the promised schedule, everyone was very professional, courteous and trustworthy. Their workmanship is excellent, and the project manager, Bill, was always available to answer questions. We had a few hiccups, of course, and they solved the problems right away.
I was able to go see my cabinets at the shop and approve the stain color, which was very important to me. The experience has been very positive, and not only do we recommend Chips Kitchens and Baths, but we hope to use them again for another project in the near future.

Apologies to Chip's - meant to leave review after our 1st job, a Kitchen Remodel last year, but life was overwhelming at the time and we lost sight of providing the review. (5 stars for that project!) So, this will be a review that mentions both jobs. We've been aware of Chip's for over a decade; my father in law used them for a kitchen remodel 10 or 12 years ago, and close friends used them for a kitchen remodel 7 or 8 years ago.
When we were ready to remodel our kitchen, Chips was in our list of who to get bids from, based on positive feedback from my father law and close friends (who independently selected Chip's, years prior). Ron @ Chip's provided much more thorough details, answers to our questions, and had better questions and suggestions for us than the other companies during our initial estimates and bids.
We had much more confidence that Chip's work would be more thorough and more professionally handled and we'd end up with a much better quality product and more elegantly finished than the other companies. We're VERY happy with our kitchen from Chip's; it's been about 15 months since having the work done. There was some settling and cracking of the grout against the countertop; they came out and took care of that for us when we asked about it.
Being so pleased with Chip's, when we decided to remodel our master bathroom, we went with them again. The kitchen work included removing a wall, extending the counter top next the stove top and extra cabinetry above the countertop extension, moving from a single to double wall oven, replacing a small pantry with their custom-built cabinetry, replacing the smaller builder-grade island with slightly larger custom one with mixer stand, and including a very nice end-cap bookshelf for the cookbooks and a couple of small appliances.
Our bathroom job has just completed, and we couldn't be more thrilled with the results. This was an upstairs master bathroom remodel. We replaced a stand-up shower with a custom cabinet - deep drawers on the bottom and shelves above, converted the old tub area to a walk-in shower with bench and replacing the builder-grade vanity with a taller custom cabinet, and flooring replacement with LVP.
We were able to use our quartz remnant from the kitchen job for the bathroom vanity and shower bench and threshold. (could have selected from any available remnants, to keep from buying a new slab for just the vanity/shower bench) We thought our kitchen job's on-site supervisor was pretty good, but Bill was even far more excellent for our bathroom job! (Thanx, Bill!) Several of the crews were the same from the kitchen job; some were different.
This is a different world today, than when we had the kitchen job done - with our kitchen job, supply chains hadn't been disrupted yet, and labor was still more available. It's a testament to Chip's that a majority of the crews who worked on our bathroom job were the same ones, and same excellent work, from our kitchen job. There were a few changes, but new personnel were as good or better than prior ones.
Bill managed the job very well, and in spite of potential supply chain stuff, potential labor availability, having Christmas/New Years holiday weeks, the job was completed within the initial estimated time frame. Carol in the office was also most excellent for both jobs, helping us with selections and pricing, accurately tracking what components we acquired ourselves and which they purchased for us (and providing their vendor discounts), helping coordinate and ensure our questions were answered in a timely manner.
I really cannot say enough positive things about Carol, Bill and Ron - thank you all, and please pass my thanx on to the crews who worked on our home! We are greatly enjoying the kitchen and looking forward to enjoying the bathroom - it looks fantastic! The kitchen is more functional and spacious than before, and we're looking forward to the new walk-in shower and bench, and additional storage space created in our bathroom remodel! AWESOME JOB, ALL!

Chip's was one of 4 remodelers that I asked to make a proposal for the much needed renovation of the master bath. Don came in with a detailed proposal that addressed all my requests. The old shower transitioned into a spacious custom cabinet with lots of storage. Out went the old bathtub, replaced by a tiled walk in shower. It came out beautifully.
The tile layer was excellent. He did a skillful job. All of the teams did great work and all were great about answering questions and addressing concerns. Bill did an excellent job of managing the flow of workers and supplies to move things along as smoothly as possible. He was also quick to address my concerns or questions. Carol rounded out the team, helping me in the early stages as I picked out the materials to be used. I highly recommend these folks. Did I mention that I love my new shower?

We are absolutely thrilled with our new closet! It turned our gorgeous and better than expected. The quality is perfect and the functionality is just what we needed. Bill sat down with us at the beginning of our process and really listened to what we wanted. With this beautiful addition we no longer have to store seasonal clothes in the attic! We could not have asked for a better experience!

Chips remodeled our kitchen this summer, 5 star job in every respect, first Ron visited our home and drew up a fantastic electronic 3-d plan, our Forman Chuck, is absolutely the best in the business, Carole was great assisting us in selecting our appliances, colors and hardware, they even provided an interior decorator that came to our home and gave us great ideas on colors and lighting. Chips has been providing outstanding quality work for many years, highly recommend!

I found this supplier on Angie's list. My husband and I visited the showroom. What a selection. Our sales rep went over everything from A -Z. He was very and professional and knowledgeable. We did not chose this supplier but if we had the funds I believe we would have had one of the best kitchens maybe the top of the line kitchens in the neighborhood. If you're looking for elegance this is the place to visit.

Kitchen and Bath Review Five Star (Highest Review) Summary: We are very happy with Chip's full kitchen and breakfast nook remodel. High quality cabinet workmanship, honesty, professionalism, attentiveness, outstanding advice/guidance on design, and favorable contractual payment schedules for peace of mind protection (given an industry known for excessive delays, quality issues, incompletion), high value given the project cost, and military-like coordination of workers to complete on time. Cabinets can be 40% of any remodel.
We selected Chip's because they are unique among remodelers because they build their custom wood cabinets from scratch and "bake" them at their company owned facility. The advantage are cabinets designed to be fully utilized, compared to preset factory sizes (that use spacers to fill gaps). Further, the offsite baker allows a higher quality finish and longer performing cabinet, than painting at the house.
We are very happy with quality of the construction of the cabinets, the sheen silky smooth feel, and the look. Lastly, if any damage in the future would occur from wear and tear, it will be easy as a phone call to replace, as they keep our kitchen cabinet specs in the database for ease of replacement. They have been in business for over 40 years. Organizationally, the courteous workers were at the house continually without material time delays (including Saturdays - per our request).
We have heard plenty of stories of other remodelers that overbook at the expense project completion. They store all the remodeling materials so when they have them they can start and finish the project within the timeline. We also enjoyed several thousands in saving from Chip's discounts received from major retailers for appliances, countertops, fixtures, etc. versus the typical "mark-up" remodelers like to charge. The end result is a high-end quality luxury remodel for a price that provides lots of value that was done on time by very honest and courteous professionals.
