When you have Richard A. Krouse work for you, you will discover how to unlock the life in your blueprints. A way to open your house plans to the warmth and natural beauty of wood; which has been traditionally joined, expertly oiled and sealed, to ensure you a home of incomparable quality and durability.
By definition, a timberframe is a self-supporting structure and does not require the additional reinforcement of interior walls. It is natural for those who prefer an open-concept floor plan with rich wood accents of pine, oak or Douglas fir to choose a timber frame structure. Timberframing works equally well when applied to standard plan designs, providing the same measure of strength, durability and energy efficiency.
Your timber frame structure will be traditionally joined utilizing a marriage of traditional and advanced techniques. This work is done in our shops in Maine and Colorado, and then raised on-site. Our most common wood utilized is Maine white pine, as well as various other species. Timber framing is the use of traditional, hand joinery, utilizing only wood in the structure. Every joint is hand chiseled and designed to fit together. Mortise and tenon joinery was the predominant form of construction until the 1800s.
