Mike Nuzzolo at HomeProbe Inspections has been successfully inspecting homes in the New York City area since 1999, prior to retiring as a former licensed general contractor with over 40 years experience specializing in customizing and enlarging residential older homes in the Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan New York City areas.
I am well versed and experienced in the problems and conditions unique to inspections on older built Brooklyn brownstones and attached row houses as well as being recently certified in green building and re-certified in brand new construction as the New York City Building Codes have recently changed.
Often a client will call and ask me why they should spend the money on a home inspection for a newly built home. After all, shouldn't a brand new home be perfect? I have two words for those clients: Construction Oversight. It is not necessary to have a home inspection report generated for brand new construction prior to contract signing because the home or unit is brand new there is nothing to negotiate everything is new. By doing a home inspection prior to contract signing you are basically wasting your money.

My experience with home probe was great. They were able to get an inspector out to meet a tight due diligence deadline. Tom, my inspector, was very knowledgeable and patiently answered the many questions I had for him. The finished report was very detailed and helped a ton in making the decision to move forward with the purchase

I cannot find enough positive things to say about Home Probe. As a real estate agent, our team trusts Home Probe to provide excellent inspection services as well as top notch customer service for our clients. We know, if we ever have any questions or concerns (which is rare), Mel & the staff will do all they can to assist our mutual clients. Scheduling inspection online on their website is a breeze and they go above and beyond by providing excellent communication to all parties: the client, the buyer's agent and listing agent.
Everyone is updated every step of the way. And, I know if I ever need to squeeze in a rush inspection, they will do all they can to accommodate it! We trust and appreciate them so much, that I have used Home Probe twice now for inspections on my personal homes. 5 stars all the way!

My Home-Probe inspector missed observing & noting that one of the metal beams that supports my deck was cut all the way through. The beam is moveable when pushed and this is a structural issue so I am shocked it was overlooked. When I reached out to review this issue directly with Home-Probe, they said it was past their 100 days and couldn't do anything to help get it resolved.
A small shrub that used to be near the beam "must've covered up the issue" so they couldn't be blamed for missing it. Additionally, I attended the entire inspection and made notes of potential issues around my home that I found suspicious. At the end, once my inspector and I reviewed his report, I had to call out several other things to my inspector that he would've otherwise missed (wood & stucco rot, cracks in foundation cement, etc.). Thankfully he added these findings to the report. I have worked with plenty of other inspection companies that provide a much more thorough inspection than the one I received from Home Probe.
