We did not have a good experience with these builders. They were renovating our kitchen and bathroom. It took 2 months longer than expected. Most days there was on.y one person working. We ended up having the state plumbing inspector come. He made them redo the plumbing from the kitchen. The crown molding that we bought for the kitchen ended up being cut up, as opposed to being laid as one piece.
The pieces have since sagged from the ceiling. They removed the threshold to the bathroom, but were not goi g to put a new one down. They replaced the light fixtures in the kitchen, but were not going to patch the existing holes from the previous fixtures. It was one thing after another. We would never want them back to fix these things. I wouldn't want them within 100' of my home!

Completed a kitchen Reno with Breakwater Design which was significantly behind the quoted 4-6 weeks timeline. Project took 6 months and we were left for weeks without a functioning kitchen and no one working on a day to day basis. Excuses were prolific! Unprofessional conduct, especially as money requested at start of project. Satisfied with finished kitchen but the timeline and lack of attention to detail was so frustrating!

Breakwater recently completed a third significant project for us -- converting a garage attic to living space (two rooms and a bath). As with the two prior projects, which included a fantastic total house renovation, they were terrific. Great design ideas, flawless workmanship, very communicative and responsive to the client. Truly professional and a pleasure to deal with.

I wish there were zero stars. They don't get any worse then this. Dishonest liars and thieves. ( I have documentation) They didn't pay their subcontractors who then came after me. They did shoddy work and wouldn't correct it or pay to have it corrected. They walked away from the job without finishing. You will be sorry.

The reviews are all alike M.B. and Elizabeth now mine they were awful and yes 100% bad news do not let them in your home you will regret it. We over paid for very low grade work no SUPERVISION AT ALL. They never took the blame for any thing they passed the buck to anyone, but them. I even had pictures and still they passed the buck if you read this and you let do work for you then you deserve everything you read here. DO NOT LET THEM DO ANY WORK FOR YOU if you want to see there handy work let me know I have pictures

Breakwater did a complex renovation of our second home including a new kitchen, new baths, new windows, new roof, reconfigured rooms, a dramatic new staircase, a new deck and more. They provided excellent design ideas and fine workmanship. We live several hours away but Breakwater's communication allowed the job to proceed smoothly. The end result of their renovation is spectacular. I highly recommend them.

Bad news, bad experience. Poor communication and control over sub crew; allowed subs to do low quality work with little oversight. Exceeded time line and we overpaid considering the service level and quality. The customer was never right with these folks and they continue to fabricate "facts" about how everything went down. They were barely onsight and treated us terribly.
We paid every bill on time, even when they weren't fulfilling their end of the payment terms and they still treated us poorly. Seek out all the reviews you can on these folks before you hire them.
