Whelan Builders

We used Whelan Builders for a kitchen remodel that included taking the kitchen down to the stubs, removing two walls, relocating the support header into the attic AND refinishing the wood floors on our entire first floor (after feathering in new flooring in the kitchen and by the front door). Not only did Mike and his team do an excellent job but we were super impressed with their subcontractors too. Ellie is an excellent communicator and provided a calendar - prior to the work beginning - of what we could expect to happen and when (didn't always match up with what actually happened due to unforeseen circumstances but it was super helpful). Mike also had some creative recommendations that we went with which ended up making the final results better than we'd imagined. Ellie took the time to communicate with her wood guy our desire for a very simple newel post and he made one just for our project that was perfect!

The stone fabricator they work with is truly an artist! We ended up splurging on quartzite and taking it up to the cabinets as the back splash (we have a small kitchen) and he carefully selective the most beautiful parts of the stone for the areas that are most visible (and we think it looks stunning). We had a custom window seat built that looks amazing (Mike said after it was installed that it looks like it was always meant to be there). We'd absolutely work with them again! Whelan Builders did a wonderful job on our recent project. They were responsive from the start and kept us informed along the way. Mike and Ellie listened to what we wanted and presented several options to get there - explaining how to save money while not losing our vision. Ellie, Mike and their team were great to work with. We had a delightful experience from start to finish on our master bath remodel that included relocating plumbing, removing walls and a soffit, and working around a 'not-so-beautiful' vanity that we really did not want to replace. Ellie, who walked us through design, finishes selection, and scheduling was attentive and very responsive to questions/requests as they arose.

She genuinely listened to what we said and was very in touch with our preferences as she worked with us to stay as close to budget as possible despite us making some changes/upgrades along the way. Mike was in and out as he either worked with the crew and/or made sure they knew exactly what the plan of attack was each day. He also kept us in the loop with updates.

The guys were hardworking, meticulous, friendly and thoughtful from beginning to end. The subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, tile and painting were all great too. This was our first experience with Whelan Builders and I can't say enough good things about our experience with them as people and contractors.

We had a wonderful experience adding a three season room onto our house with Whelan Builders! Mike and Ellie are a great team, they each have their own strengths and compliment each other so nicely. They are helpful with ideas but not overbearing with their own preferences, they truly worked WITH us to make the room we had imagined a reality while staying within budget.

Even when we changed our minds on things mid-way through the project, they were accommodating and supportive regarding those changes. Their crew is wonderful as well, all of the people that came in to do their parts were conscientious, courteous and willing to answer any questions along the way. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

Cannot say enough good things about Whelan Builders. We knew pretty much right away after meeting them, we wanted to work with them and their quote was the most thorough of the four we got. Their workers are amazing, and took great care to protect our home, our children and our pets. We added an addition and kitchen remodel; they were very careful to keep us updated on each step in the process, including the break-through. Ellie and Mike were also great about keeping us on budget and letting us know where they think we would benefit from saving here or spending a little more there. Not only did we find an amazing contractor in Whelan Builders, we found friends that we can trust and rely on. Whelan will always be our first call when we have projects.

My wife and I first used Whelan Builders in 2009 for our home. We replaced 25 windows, new exterior siding/insulation, added 3 new windows, added a porch gable and a new set of French doors to our existing 3 season room. The experience with Mike and Ellie was as smooth as you could ask for. They are down to earth people and really listen to your needs.

All of the workers that show up are always courteous and professional. Whelan Builders work is outstanding which is why we chose them again 9 years later to have our 3 season room rehabbed from the ground up. For our 2nd project, it was like Mike and Ellie had never left. Dealing with them again in 2019 was the exact same experience and the work completed was awesome.
