We at Benchmark Homes are committed to building the custom home that you desire. This means that we don't limit our work to certain styles or sizes of residence. Our home design staff can take your collection of photographs of existing rooms, magazine pages of a kitchen or fireplace, sketches of a front elevation and two different floor plans, and merge them into the one plan you have been trying to find.

FYI---I plan to update this review after living in this house for a year to give an accurate reflection on the energy efficiency and how the house wears. To be honest, it was a long road--the foundation was started on September 19, 2017, and we moved in on August 4, 2018. We had multiple stumbling blocks along the way with delays and mistakes, and the process was extremely frustrating and difficult at times. However, we got almost everything we asked for--a beautiful, semi-custom home in the location that we wanted.
To all of you looking to build, I have 2 tips to avoid major stress: plan on having extra $$$ in savings for unexpected costs, and plan on the process taking much longer than expected.

Very reliable and professional company. Their builder, Charles Thornhill, impressed us very much by keeping our family interests and benefits as a priority. Although we worked for very short time with Lexar Homes due to change in our plans regarding building a house, however, for any future plans this is the company of our choice! We are in the last week of building our Lexar home. We move in next week and we couldn't be happier. From start to finish 8 months ago my husband and I put into place building our retirement dream home. We choose model 2057 to accommodate our HOA in our new neighborhood, it had to be at least 2000 sq. ft. We started with the initial layout and changed everything we wanted to change.
We moved walls, changed windows, updated just about everything; cabinets, flooring, windows, back deck space and coverage, lighting, doors, room height, you name it we added to it. What we got was what we planned. Tracy, Brent and Donna all worked to make our magic happen. They helped through the total process from changing plans and re-changing plans to accommodate the financial changes that come from building your own vision.
What I love about working with all three of these people is their detail to attention on our behalf and every time I texted, sent an email or even called I got an immediate response. Their demeanor is friendly and so helpful. Even though every build has stresses they did not let us know when their were issues that we did not need to know about. If something needed to be changed along the way, they immediately communicated with us and we made the necessary changes to accommodate those changes.
We are now down to the final steps and we are still working closer than ever and it is a real joy to talk to any of them. I will miss my daily communications with Tracy after our build is done but I feel I have totally made new friends that helped make our dream come true.

Update #2- STILL WAITING, not completed yet! Lexar has been unspeakable to deal with. Electrical by McCoy Electrical contracted by Lexar is so poor light switches are not working or can't turn off lights (exterior) so we removed bulbs, laundry room switch pops the breaker, others that are two way might turn on but just flicker using the switch across the room, and more. HVAC installers were drunk when we arrived at 10:30am so I told them to leave.
My list is long not to mention the 3rd Property manager later and he threatened to stop work on our home because I didn't go through him asking the installer not to hang a mirror.so much more, so disappointed and sad. Update- 9.5 months later. Well, we are still waiting for our home to finish. I rescind my recommendation. After our initial purchase and once we were moved to the hands of the Project manager we have been disappointed several times (this is how we build it has been repeatedly said to our requests) and it has taken an unspeakable amount if time with long periods of zero work being done.
I am a highly positive person and cannot help but feel disappointed. We have a new Project manager trying his best to right the wrongs but. opinion still stands. Previous post: We highly recommend this wonderful builder this far, and can't say enough about the personal and professional courtesies that they extend go above and beyond. Judson Willis is amazing and is the face and hands that form this opinion. We changed from another builder and have been blessed ever since. Our home is still in the beginning phases and I will try to remember to post the end result

We love their floor plans. We were able to take one and make it our own without having to deal with a ton of additional fees unlike some other builders we met with. Dani has been great in communicating with us next steps and finding answers to our questions to keep everything on schedule. We are excited to finish the build and finally have our dream home!

We are absolutely in love with our Lexar Home plan. Lexar of Tacoma has been great so far. Though Pierce County has been a trying challenged, Judson Willis has been with us EVERY step of the way. He is supportive and someone I truly feel is behind us and on our side. We are going on a year now jumping through county hurdles and think we are finally seeing our light at the end of the tunnel and in that light is our Lexar home. We still have a few hurdles to jump but it is so great to know we have a genuine person jumping them with us. Thank you Judson and Lexar.
