Clancy & Theys Construction Company was founded in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1949 by brothers-in-law E.I. Clancy and John Theys. Mr. Clancy's sons, David T. "Tim" Clancy and Joel T. "Tick" Clancy have managed the company since 1986 as president and executive vice president, respectively. Our headquarters remains in Raleigh, NC, but we expanded to four additional locations - Wilmington and Charlotte, NC, Newport News, VA and Orlando, FL - between 1984 and 1995.During the post-WWII construction boom, we concentrated on residential construction, but soon after pivoted our focus to commercial work.

Clancy & Theys integrates our construction operations teams into the preconstruction planning. Our Project Managers and Superintendents will comb through the plans and provide constructability reviews. These steps help to provide a set of drawings that are adequately detailed and reviewed reducing the amount of change orders in the field.
At Clancy & Theys Construction Company, the digital 3D building model becomes the "shared space" where the Owner's vision, the architect's design and the contractor's construction knowledge can be combined and all possibilities considered. Since implementing and promoting a Building Information Modeling process in 2007, we have proven to be a pioneer in advanced construction services.
Clancy & Theys has created a Trade Partner Development Committee (TPDC) with the purpose of creating meaningful and lasting relationships with one of the the most important components to any construction project, our trade partners. One of the primary goals of the TPDC is to formally shepherd new trade partner relationships with Clancy & Theys. To help with this goal the committee has created the Trade Partner Interest form.
