At Schumacher Homes, our philosophy - and our business - has been built on an entirely new approach to custom home building: we've combined custom and value. What makes a statement like that so special? To start with, value and custom are not two words you would ever expect to see in the same sentence. In fact, they hardly ever appear on the same page.

My wife and I built our dream home with Schumacher in 2014/15 as a custom floor plan. If you have ever built anything, including a home, you know things do not always go as planned. The question is what happens when they don't? I can tell you from personal experience that Schumacher has stood behind their product in these moments. We have a 3-bay side load garage with a large turn-around space and forty foot by twelve foot entrance.
During the pour there was a minor pause to repair a section of engineered wall that was on one edge of the driveway. During this pause the cement on the truck waited, too long perhaps. Everything looked good on the day of the pour, brand new as expected. In three years, it became evident that something wasn't right with the entrance portion. Fast forward to year six and the cement was "spalling and eroding" on the top surface in a noticeable way.
You may have guessed it, but this was outside warranty and Schumacher was legally outside their coverage. Through investigation and time spent personally with the warranty and management at Schumacher, they made the decision to tear out the entrance section and repour. They made this decision ultimately with no compensation on my part. My family and I take great care in our home and are thankful for the decision of Schumacher to stand behind the home they built. I believe they will continue to stand behind their homes based on the actions described above.

I was so excited to build our home, but after it was built it became the worst experience of, the builder never observed what the contractors were doing and after the house was built we have had nothing but problems, they promise to come out and fix it but they never do, they only say that to keep you from calling them to see when they will come back, do your research before having them build your home, I could go on and on with the problems were having, not a good company so many turn overs in Asheville.

DO NOT BUILD HERE WITHOUT HIRING A LAWYER FIRST! After several issues during our build, including a $100,000 erosion problem we had to pay out of pocket once they were done, we are STILL waiting for our punch list and other items to be completed almost 1 year later. They have been through 3 warranty people in one year, all of which say they put in work orders, but clearly nothing is getting done.
We've had a ridiculous amount of phone calls and emails with Dino, the GM at the Asheville office, since at this point his contact info is the only one we have. All promises, zero action. We're still waiting on: remaining screens for our windows, our $20,000 bathroom "upgrade" has an entire scratched glass door from the cleaners along with cracked tile, not the proper sealant on the floors and now water damage, range hood vent not installed, drill holes in our wood floor along with some cracked boards, a loose staircase banister, and loose patio railing.
Absolutely ridiculous and clearly we're not the only ones with these issues. My husband and I are content creators, and have (and will continue) to share our experience with our almost one million followers. At this point, even if we can save one person the nightmare we've been through, it's worth it. There's endless reputable builders out there, don't choose these guys.
I will update and include the date when all the above fixed, in the meantime, don't believe any reply from Schumacher Homes because again, they're full of promises to get things fixed, yet do not uphold their contracts.

Currently building a Schumacher home near Columbus OH and I cant begin to express my utter dismay and disappointment in the home they have constructed thus far for us. Our concerns are laughed at, in person and in erroneously forwarded emails where we see Mark our builder forward our concerns to his General Manager Steve. accompanied by emojis, of course, saying "FUN".
This has been anything but fun. The house looks like a second hand home. We are devastated by the appearance of this home and the thought of what we have paid and will pay in the future. And no one seems to care. how could you be proud of this work?

I wish I could give a rating of 0. If you are looking to build a new home, do not go with SCHUMACHER HOMES. This is a legit WARNING. Schumacher is presently building my house in Monroeville PA. Delays after delays, they are the worst with scheduling. They do whatever they want without discussing items with you. As this is my house that I am paying for, every item needs to be discussed with the homeowner.
I bought a flat lot of land for my house to be built on, but somehow, Schumacher created a hill and built the house on a hill. Now it's like I live on a mountain. I could not make this up and I am not exaggerating. But this is the craziest part: my house will be ready for move-in on Friday (9/28/18) and last week I was informed that Schumacher forgot to include a window in the 4th bedroom.
You read that correctly, an entire window. So now, that room has to be made into a sitting room to pass inspection and then a window will be installed at a later date. I have never heard of a thing. All they said was that the drawing printed without a window and that they built to the printed drawing, and that they were sorry for the inconvenience. THE ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Before going with SCHUMACHER, consider buying an abandoned house and remodeling everything; I'm sure that will work out a lot better. I'm taking this to facebook for sure!

Horrible Experience at the Asheville NC office. They have our money but haven't done a thing. They started our septic without any prior approval from our HOA/ARC.our HOA President had to remove them from the lot. Now, three weeks later we are still awaiting submittal of our materials to the HOA. A woman that worked for this office was fired for lying about her credentials.
No one will call us back and give us updates. We are living in temporary housing.it's been a miserable experience with this company. We are looking into firing them even though this will cause further delay. I cannot tell you how much I dislike this company. NO ONE IS HELPING US--NO ONE IS RETURNING OUR CALLS--THIS HAS BEEN THE MOST STRESSFUL PROCESS WE HAVE EVER DEALT WITH, AND SCHUMACHER DOESN'T CARE.

No stars, if I could. What a joke of a company! We signed a contract - almost a year later (8 months), after issues with just about everything (their construction process didn't pass inspection!) the house was rushed to get finished. Our builder stating that if he didn't finish at whatever the cost then he was going to get fired. Shortcuts were taken across the board. 2 years later a hose bibb that we were told was frost proof (and that we still shut water off every winter to make sure that nothing would leak come spring) and was fixed last spring is leaking again, to the point of water coming through a window.
Their response "that is not covered". Don't build with Schumacher, even if it's the last choice you have. Living in a tent is better. The GM's are poorly trained and could care less about any concerns. To give the "that's not covered issue" before even looking at it. Poor poor business.
