Countryside Chimney Service

This is the most unprofessional company I have ever encountered. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, please save yourself the headache. This is my first time ever taking the time to write a negative review. There are multiple 1 star reviews essentially saying the same thing. The owner is very kind and friendly at first but once you give him the money and need say something like an inspection done, then he never picks up your calls or answers your texts.

You have to go to your local town hall and have them contact him. We had a chimney liner installed late October of 2021. they charged us $4300 plus we had to pay $100 out of pocket for the permit that he was supposed to get before he started the job. They charged us $1,300+ more than the market value of the job and we thought we would get better service for paying more.

We also talked him down from $5800 which he wanted initially. Another local company had quoted us $2,800 for the same job. They were in and out in half a day. They promised they would remove the debris but never did and left us with over 14 bags each weighing 50lbs+. There were sharp object from the old liner and I even cut my hand removing it myself.

The liner they installed coming from the boiler to the chimney in our basement is bigger than the one we had before and it is poking out and I now have to duck under it to not burn my face. He also promised he was going to install an insulated liner around the pipe to prevent anyone from getting burned. Surprise, surprise.he never did. In conclusion, there are plenty other companies that do this work and I think it would be difficult to find a worse company. Do yourself a favor and get your work done elsewhere.

My experience was extremely similar to other one star reviews. James was very nice and personable when coming to give a quote and explaining what needed to be done. He said he needed to order a part to complete the job and would circle back when it came in. I checked in multiple times, in the beginning he responded abs said the part was arriving any day, than he just ghosted us. He didn't respond to calls, voicemails or texts. This is extremely unprofessional. Avoid this company.

I can't say enough about James and his crew and the job they did. What a pleasure to work with a contracting firm that does what they said and when. James Fox and his crew were great. From being on time, being understanding and pricing being reasonable I am more than happy my nightmare was over and all thanks to him. We used Countryside for two jobs. The first was a chimney clean-out which went well. The second was a $2,700 chimney liner on 11/12/19. James Fox, the owner, wanted payment after the job was completed and before the inspection. The liner failed inspection. The inspector said the permit wasn't completed correctly [ it indicated a 6" exhaust when it was 7"]. James put in a 6" liner, when a 7" was required.

After a few calls to James he told us that he had spoken to the inspector and he agreed to pass it. The inspector said he had never spoken to him. Finally in January they did speak and James was told the liner needed to be 7". At the end of January James showed us a letter from his supplier indicating a 6" was sufficient. He said he would present it to the town.

After two months of hearing nothing from James or the town [despite em's and calls to James] I presented the letter to the inspectors. They rejected its premise and the status was unchanged. After multiple requests to James, which were not responded to, in late May we paid a plumber to install an alternative solution. After 7mos we passed inspection, without help or acknowledgement from Countryside.

I am so happy with the work of Countryside Chimney. I contacted them based on a referral from a neighbor, and could not be happier with their work and their service. Work on my chimney was not exactly straightforward, due to how my house was designed, and James clearly communicated with me at each step to make sure I understood what needed to happen and what any work would cost. His team was professional, courteous and neat. I could not be happier with the results of their work. I recommend Countryside wholeheartedly.

They have a customer for life! James Fox owner of Countryside Chimney was amazing customer service at it's best. Countryside Chimney rebuild my chimney put a new stainless steel liner at a very affordable prices. I was so happy with the job they did I hired them to do my front stairs of my house a week later. Countryside Chimney is the best chimney service I have encountered. Chimney service in northern NJ is much less than good honest business, as most people know. I have cycled through 3 or 4 services through the years and have been either disappointed or marginally satisfied for the service. James Fox provides his services in a professional manner and he does this with particular attention to the client situation and needs. I am an architect, so I recognize his sensitivity, his process, and the quality of his work.

James Fox the owner was fantastic. He explained the entire process of rebuilding my chimney and installation of our new liner. His workers were friendly, lined the floor so there wasn't a mess and cleaned up everything. A great experience! Highly recommend them! Professional, courteous and an overall great company.

Countryside did a very good job installing my Chimney Cap. They came on time. The crew was very neat and covered the floors. They cleaned up after the job. And the price was very fair. Thank you for a job well done. I would tell my friends and neighbors to use you for any of their chimney needs.
