We were wishing to purchase a Shea home. We visited the sales office in San Tan and wrote our Realtor's info down on the questionnaire as it asked. We then came back with our Realtor and Shea refused to make her a part of the transaction and told us that they "lost" our form. So we told them we wouldn't be doing business with them at all and withdrew our request.very shady Sales agents and Sales Manager.beware.

Do not buy a house with Shea unless you love having issues with your home that never resolve. There are many reputable builders in the area (Eastmark/SE Mesa) that my neighbors have had no major issues with (Cal Atlantic, Fulton, Mulberry, etc). Even with six trips to your house to repair one issue (which wastes a weekday of your time), Shea's subs will try time and time again to fix their mistakes and only make the problems worse. Issues I have had 4+ trips out to my house for: accent strips in the bathrooms, shower glass in the master, floor tile, cabinets and of course painters and drywallers to fix the damage caused by the other subs coming out and doing work.
Floor tile (tile delamination from subfloor, chipping tile), accent strips (messy grout job), and shower glass (scratches and leaks) are at 5+ trips and still unresolved. I have had subs reschedule to a different window the day before. Subs not show up during their window or not show up at all. Subs who don't bring the right materials and can't do the job.
A sub even stole a tool from me which took way too long to resolve with Shea. When I had a handful of tiles replaced in my house, my house ended up entirely coated in thick thinset dust and I had to hire my own cleaners and then wait over a month for reimbursement from Shea. That's okay for someone who can afford to miss $300 for that time, but not everyone can. Shea can't control their subs and doesn't have any control of quality.
I have "lived the difference" of probably wasting 9+ days off in only like 6 months (thank god I get a few scheduled weekdays off) babysitting subs in my house. And the worst part: Shea doesn't seem to care. Nothing to make it right or make sure the job is done right. It's fine that I waste so many of my days off. It's fine that nothing is ever done right. It's fine their subs can't do the job right. It doesn't matter when they already have your money.
